UVM Guest Borrower PolicyYou may use any library on campus subject to the policies governing that specific library. You may check out a maximum of 10 books from the circulating collection of UVM LIbraries at any one time. However, materials in the library's Media Resources collection do not circulate to guest borrowers. You may use non-circulating materials (reference, periodicals, microforms, and special collections) in the library. You may make use of other library services, such as reference assistance, photocopy machines, and reference assistants in U.S. Government Documents and Special collections. Your card is non-transferable and may be used only in person. For your protection, we may require a second form of identification (e.g. driver's license) with your borrower's card to charge out books. Your card does not permit you to access subscription library databases from outside of the library. You may however, make use of these resources in the library. Some materials, such as course reserves and some online databases are restricted to use by UVM faculty, students and staff. Your card does not provide access to any University computer labs. Loan PeriodsBooks are checked out for four weeks except for the Popular Reading which may be checked out for two weeks only. Holds and SearchesIf you cannot locate a book on the shelf, check the UVM Library Catalog to see if the book has been checked out to someone. Although we do not recall books for guest borrowers, we will place a hold on an item. You will be notified when the requested book has been returned, and it will be held for you at the Circulation Desk. If the book is not on the shelf and is not checked out to someone, please request that a search be conducted by notifying the Circulation Desk. Recalled BooksAny library material you have checked out may be recalled for use by a UVM student, faculty member, or staff member. Materials requested for course reserve are subject to immediate recall. If you do not return a recalled item by the date indicated on the recall notice, you will be charged a $15 recall overdue fee, and you will lose borrowing privileges until the book is returned to the library. Overdue Materials and FinesAll library users are subject to charges. Library users are responsible for remembering when their books are overdue. A date due slip is placed in the back of each charged book. One overdue notice is sent before a charge notice is generated. Overdue notices are a courtesy. Failure to receive this notice does not exempt a user from overdue charges. Overdue Charges and Replacement ChargesIf you do not return a books within ten days of the due date, you will incur a charge. An overdue transaction charge of $5.00 is charged for each book overdue. Cost of replacement is $50.00. It is based on average book price statistics and is subject to change. Cost adjustments are made for expensive items that may have to be searched for and obtained from out-of-print book market. Borrowing privileges may be revoked after you have been billed for two overdue and/or lost items. | ||
