Every Bachelor of Arts degree candidate must complete Burlington College’s General Education requirements and must earn a minimum of 120 credits to achieve a degree. The following course requirements are specific to the Inter-American Studies major.
Major Requirements
36 credits past the 9 entry level credits are required. All courses are 3 credits unless otherwise noted. Other coursework may be substituted with permission of academic advisor.
Entry Level (100) 9 credits
• Environmental Science/Ecology/Geography—

• Comparative Government/American History—

• Economics—3 credits from the following:
– Patterns of Wealth and Poverty
– Economic Theory
– Other learning activities, such as guided independent study, may be arranged to fulfill this area

Travel opportunities are available in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Cuba, Mexico, and other locations in the Americas. Educational travel can range from 3 to 15 credits, and except for specific courses, is limited to upper-level students.
