Independent Degree Program: Credit for Life Experience

The In House Portfolio (IHP) is a one-time opportunity, which allows students to assess prior life experience or unaccredited certificate programs for academic credit. Through detailed documentation of these prior learning experiences, students use the IHP to demonstrate competence in specific course areas. The student undertakes the project independently. Acceptance to the college is required prior to undertaking enrollment for the IHP.

The IHP is appropriate for students who wish to document a limited amount of prior life experience (a maximum of 12 credits). Credits that are being applied for through the IHP may not have been previously assessed for credit by any other institution. The credits awarded for the IHP will not address credits needed for matriculation at the college.
