Financial Aid: Refunds— Campus-Based Programs

The ending time for the refund periods listed below closes the last business day of the week cited. For specific dates of the beginning and ending of the current semester, please see the Course Bulletin.

Fall/Spring     Summer
Weeks 1-2 100%   First week 100%
Weeks 3-4 50%   Week 2 50%
Weeks 5-8 25%   Weeks 3-4 25%
Weeks 9+ 0%   Weeks 5+ 0%

Refunds are calculated from the day of receipt of written drop notice signed by the advisor. Requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Registrar, Burlington College, 95 North Avenue, Burlington. VT 05401. Questions about the refund policy or procedures should be addressed to the Registrar.

Tuition refunds are calculated as a percentage of the amount charged for the learning activity (s) as of the day on which the refund is requested.

All fees except those for Admission and transcripts are refundable during the free add/drop period of at the beginning of each semester, the exact ending dates of which are listed in the College Catalog and/or Course Bulletins.

Students who drop and add a course or other learning activity after the free add/drop period are given the stated refund for that learning activity, and are charged the full cost of any workshop or other learning activity that may be added.

The refund schedule for students registered for workshops is the same as that for courses. Students may drop a mini-course during the first week of the mini-course, regardless of when it is scheduled in the semester. If Burlington College should cancel a workshop or mini-course after the end of the registration period, matriculated studies receive full financial credit for that learning activity to be applied toward another learning activity. However, this financial credit must be used within the next two regularly scheduled semesters or the credit will be forfeited.

People who think that their individual circumstances warrant exception to these published refund policies and schedules should appeal by filing a written petition to the Registrar. The Academic Review Committee considers these petitions.
