Transfer Students: Overview

Transfer students are very welcome here at Burlington College. In fact, many transfer students thrive at Burlington College because they often have a deeper understanding of their own unique needs and learning styles from other, perhaps more traditional, learning experiences. They understand what motivates them to learn. They are ready to take a more active role in their education. They are ready to be regarded as an individual, not a number. They have a clearer sense of how they’d like to finish out their degree. Burlington College can provide the support and attention they seek in an educational environment.

At no cost, we will gladly perform a preliminary Transcript Evaluation. By sending official transcripts from each institution attended, and indicating a program of interest, we can assess how many of your credits are likely to transfer toward a B.A. degree. We can also project how many and what kinds of credits you will likely need to complete to finish your degree at Burlington College. We can do this for you before you even decide to apply! The information yielded from this process is extremely helpful as you make your decision to transfer. For your convenience, we provide a Transcript Evaluation Request Form, which you can download and print. Mail or email the completed form to the Admissions Office.

In addition to speaking with Admissions staff, some transfer applicants find it beneficial to consult an advisor in their area of academic interest within the admissions process. In addition to meeting more of the Burlington College community, these faculty members can address specific questions about the curriculum and degree planning.

Transfer applicants wishing to study through our campus program should complete our standard Application for Admission. Transfer applicants with 45 or more credits who prefer independent, distance learning should fill out the Independent Degree Program Application.
