Burlington College has a small standing faculty and a community-based faculty who teach in the fields they practice. Our majors include Cinema Studies & Film Production, Fine Arts, Literature and Writing, Psychology, Transpersonal Psychology, Human Services, Social Ecology, Legal and Justice Studies, and Inter-American Studies. We have certificate programs in Paralegal Studies and in Film Production, and an Independent Distance-Learning B.A. completion program.
Prospective faculty members should send in a current resume along with a cover letter. Suggested syllabi or course descriptions for courses or workshops may be attached. Burlington College recruits individuals to the faculty who have appropriate academic training in their field of instruction—preferably an advanced or professional degree—and can present evidence of experience and expertise as a scholar, creative artist, or practitioner in the field of his or her appointment. We expect our faculty to possess a high level of knowledge or skill; a high level of ability to communicate with students; commitment and ability to evaluate student work honestly, fairly, and in a timely manner; and eagerness to pass along knowledge to the next generation of scholars, creative artists, and professionals. We seek instructors who identify themselves with the traditions and practice of progressive education and alternative models of higher education.

We generally plan our course offerings 5–8 months prior to the beginning of the following semester. Spring semester planning begins in July and is completed by the end of August. Summer semester planning begins in November and is finalized by the end of December. Because our continuing student registration process for summer and fall semesters is concurrent, planning for the fall semester also begins in late November/early December and is finished by early January. It is very rare that the Academic Planning Committee approves additional courses or trips after these months. Thank you for your cooperation with our academic schedule.
