DIRECTOR OF THE INDEPENDENT DEGREE PROGRAM

The IDP is a well-established (16 years) degree completion program for adult students; some crossover occurs with the campus program.  The basic 17 week semester format begins with a residency followed by distance learning (with a faculty member) of related courses in modules and an evaluation.   We seek a person with previous experience teaching in and/or administering a similar distance learning program.

This is a 60% FTE position; Master’s degree
Available 7/1/09 or until filled

CHAIR OF TRANSPERSONAL PSYCHOLOGY

TPS is currently a small enrollment major in the campus program.  In addition to majors, TPS contributes significant courses to the general curriculum and to students in the psychology major.  We think TPS is a potential growth area.  It is a popular track as an individualized major in the IDP (above) and in self-directed majors in the campus program.

This is a 40% FTE position; Master’s degree
Available 7/1/09 or until filled

OTHER POSITIONS

A valuable part of a student’s education at Burlington College is learning with Community Faculty (adjuncts).  We are always accepting applications from qualified faculty to teach in the areas of fine arts, cinema, film, writing, literature, psychology, photography, human services, natural sciences and legal and justice.

All positions require a Master’s degree (doctorate preferred) or significant experience in the discipline comparable to a Master’s degree.

Burlington College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

We generally plan our course offerings 5–8 months prior to the beginning of the following semester. Spring semester planning begins in July and is completed by the end of August. Summer semester planning begins in November and is finalized by the end of December. Because our continuing student registration process for summer and fall semesters is concurrent, planning for the fall semester also begins in late November/early December and is finished by early January. It is very rare that the Academic Planning Committee approves additional courses or trips after these months. Thank you for your cooperation with our academic schedule.
