Location

Burlington College is located in Burlington, Vermont, a city rated one of the ‘most livable cities’ in the United States and rich in cultural and professional resources. Panoramic views of Lake Champlain to the west and the south provide magnificent open vistas from the modest campus.

Most of the classrooms are housed in a turn-of-the-century building on the edge of the Old North End, a neighborhood rich in history and growing diversity. A pedestrian lane connects the College to the downtown waterfront community and the bike-path that stretches along the shores of Lake Champlain and up through the islands. A community sailing center, boathouse, marina and boardwalk can also be found here.

Courses are offered at alternative locations to accommodate facility needs (for example, a pottery course is offered in a local art studio, a week-long intensive lake studies course is offered on a Maritime Museum boat out on the lake). Through contractual agreement, matriculated students have access to library services, including borrowing privileges, at nearby University of Vermont’s Bailey-Howe Library. The local YMCA is our health club. Public transportation stops almost at our door.

The Green Mountains, the Catamount Trail, and some of the best wind-surfing in the northeast are close-by. Burlington is home of Burton Snowboards, where snowboarding was born, and several mountains to ride and ski, including Stowe, Sugarbush, Bolton, Jay Peak, and Killington are only a short drive away.

Burlington’s downtown, filled with sidewalk cafés, restaurants, clubs, galleries and shops, is the place to meet up with friends. Mardi-Gras, the Discover Jazz Festival, First Night, the Winter Festival, the South End Art Hop, and the Ramble in the Old North End are only a few of the events offered during a year-round arts scene unrivaled anywhere! For folks interested in big-city life, Montreal is only an hour and a half away, Boston four hours, and New York, less than six hours.

Burlington is our campus. Consistently noted as one of the best places to live by many publications, read what people are saying about our hometown, Burlington, Vermont!
