Mission
The goal of the Reconnaissance Gallery is to celebrate and reward artists in our community who push the visual medium forward and to recognize those who lay the groundwork for confronting future struggles in the arts.
Current Exhibit
Where's California? by student Michael Savoie. Running through April.
The works of Michael Savoie are conceptual yet simple, reflecting singular and independent themes. Often thought of as a thinker, Michael takes a very technical approach to each painting he creates. He has credited this thinking to being raised in Port Arthur, a small city in Southeast Texas. Growing up, he has always been intrigued by large metropolitan cities, and the faster paced lifestyle. This comes across in his work which often puts viewers in the same frame of mind.
His new installment, Where’s California?, is the product of his love for “old Hollywood” and the players of its time. This collection has long been a thought, however, it was brought to fruition in a very short time. Once the technical side was figured in Savoie’s head, he was able to produce this breathtaking body of work.
Although a new resident of Vermont, Michael Savoie is no rookie when it comes to art. He is a self-taught sketch artist and painter whose journey has been a continuous search for self-expression and exploration. With a background in fashion design, Michael has an excellent grasp of color harmonies, composition, and presentation. His wishes are that everyone who views his works, simply enjoys them as much as he does.
