ONE WOMAN PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT
Burlington College Community Gallery
Opening Exhibit: Friday, January 30, 2009
Gallery open from 3-9 pm
Reception: 6-8 pm
Burlington College worked with women in Burlington’s Old North End on a community photography project that documents the lives of women living, working, and learning in this unique and culturally diverse section of the city. We gave disposable cameras to 200 women of diverse economic and social backgrounds and asked them to take pictures of their daily lives in the Old North End. Project participants included women who have lived in the ONE for two months and women who have lived here all their lives. Our youngest particpant was 10, and our oldest was 85.
The photographs will be displayed in a community show on January 30, 2009 at Burlington College. The project is an important document of women’s lives in the Old North End, illustrating who our unique neighbors are and how the live, and connecting diverse groups of women from many backgrounds living in the same community.
The show will run for 6 weeks after January 30 and is available for viewing by appointment only.
