Jen Berger
Burlington College student Jen Berger was recently named Burlington College's 2006 winner of the Vermont Campus Compact/TD Banknorth Commitment to Service and Engagement Award. This award is given to one student per VCC member campus for both the breadth and depth of her/his community involvement.
Jennifer Berger moved to Vermont in September, 2001 from Chicago, Illinois. Jen has worked as an activist in Chicago and Burlington on a variety of issues ranging from natural health lifestyles, politics of food, women’s rights, community, development, and anti-war/peace work. Her employment has varied from working in women’s health, with youth, and with people who have HIV/AIDS. She returned to school at Burlington College to complete her undergraduate work, combining her interests in community, social change, and art with a self-designed major of Community-Based Art and Social Change. She is excited to be part of the Institute for Civic Engagement, applying her background while learning more about local and contemporary global issues.
