There are eight learning goals for students enrolled in degree programs at Burlington College. These goals articulate the expectations for students who earn a B.A. or A.A. degree from the College.
I. The student will clearly and effectively communicate both orally and in writing in an appropriate manner to the audience.
II. The student will demonstrate responsible action through participation in human communities and/or stewardship of the natural environment.
III. The student will explore options for meaningful livelihood through the application of interests and skills.
IV. The student will understand and apply ethical principles to personal and social situations.
V. The student will examine broad fields of knowledge through interdisciplinary study and will examine at least one area in-depth (the major).
VI. The student will become a self-directed learner by demonstrating abilities in critical thinking, creative expression, research methods, quantitative reasoning and computer literacy.
VII. The student will develop a global perspective through an awareness of history, social and cultural influences and scientific thought.
VIII. The student will reflect on their personal development as part of the Burlington College community.
