Student Association: Projects
Here are just a few of the things the Burlington College Student Association has done in the past:
• Silent Auction to raise funds for Community Outreach
• Tuesday Night Coffeehouse. Open mike and poetry
• Movie Discussion nights on Sunday nights.
• Community Day - We made lunch and served food at the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS) Daystation
• Monthly newsletter
• Flynn Theater $2 student vouchers for selected shows throughout the year
• Fund-raising "yard sale" with proceeds to Project Warmth, the Food Shelf, Recycle North, Lund Family Center, COTS, and other local non-profits
• Sponsored Red Cross Blood Drive
• Burlington College Community Potlucks and Talent Shows
Currently, the Student Association is looking into ways to raise money in order to provide more opportunities for the B.C. community to come together and have both entertaining and informative programs and activities. One initiative being pursued is a community fundraiser involving "art in the moment". This event would combine local artistic talent (including B.C. students) and musical performance as a means to present art being created in the moment.
