After You Are Accepted: International Admissions

Once you are accepted to Burlington College and decide to attend, you will need to submit the non-refundable $200 deposit to reserve your spot, In addition, international students must submit the documents listed below in order to prepare the necessary paperwork for immigration purposes. Once we have these documents, you will be sent Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status – for Academic and Language Studies) which will allow you to apply for your F-1 student visa.

1. Copy of your Passport

Once accepted, if you decide to come to Burlington College, you will need to pay the $200 non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot. In addition, we will then require the following documents to prepare the necessary paperwork for immigration purposes. Once we have these documents, you will be sent Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status – for Academic and Language Studies).

  • Why is this needed?
    We need a copy of your passport biographical information page to ensure that all personal data entered in the SEVIS system matches your passport.
  • How to submit?
    A clear and legible copy can be uploaded to the Common Application online, faxed, sent electronically, or by post.

International Student Information Form

 

  • Fill out and submit International Student Information Form.
  • Why is this needed?
    This form helps us confirm important information for purposes of immigration paperwork, housing, academics and financial support resources.  All new and transferring international students must complete this form completely.
  • How to submit?
    The form can be sent directly to Admissions via fax, email or post.

Transfer In Form (If transferring from another post-secondary institution within the US)

  • Fill out and submit the Transfer In Form.
  • Why is this needed?
    This form is required for all international students transferring to Burlington College from another US institution.  It provides the necessary information to facilitate the transfer of your SEVIS record to Burlington College and allows us to create a “transfer pending” I-20.

  • How to submit?
    The form can be sent directly to Admissions via fax, email or post. 

Proof of Sufficient Financial Resources

  • What is this?
    This is usually in the form of an original bank statement or original account balance letter demonstrating sufficient funds to cover the expenses associated with attending Burlington College for one academic year. 
    • Financial documents must be recent – issued within the last 3-6 months.
    • Funds must be liquid.  (Investment, retirement, or similar limited-access accounts are not generally acceptable.)
    • If the funds are held in a parent or sponsor’s account, the parent or sponsor is required to sign the affidavit of support on the International Student Form (link to document pdf) or submit an original and signed letter verifying they will support you with the submitted funds.
    • If your financial sponsor(s) is a US Citizen, Permanent Resident or otherwise living in the US, they will need to complete Form I-134 in lieu of a support letter.
    • You may wish to request two or three original bank statement(s) or letter(s) as you will also need originals for your visa appointment.
  • Financial Support Requirements

      • 2013/2014 Academic Year:
        Tuition & Fees:  $22,995.00
        Room & Board:  $8,676.00
        Books & Supplies:  $1,170.00
        Miscellaneous(health insurance): $2,200.00
        TOTAL:  $35,041.00

      • Dependents: Please add an additional $3,500 for a spouse and $2,500 for each child.  Please contact Admissions if you will be bringing dependents with you.

      • Woodworking School students must add an additional $5,000 to Tuition & Fees.
    • Why is this needed?
      All international students are required by law to submit proof of available financial resources to cover the educational and living costs associated with attending Burlington College for one academic year.
    • How to Submit?
      Original copies should be sent by post to the Admissions Office.  Copies or Scans are generally not acceptable except when pre-approved by the Admissions Office and/or International Student Advisor.
