Burlington College ranks #1 for offering free spritited students the opportunity to individualize their education and provide a small intimate learning environment.
The Daily Beast recently ranked Burlington College as the #1 School for Free Spirited Students, who want a college where they can individualize their studies and offer a nontraditional learning environment.

For students who want the freedom to design their own majors and prefer written evaluations to letter grades, Newsweek ranks the best schools.

Methodology:

Peppered between the massive state colleges and iconic national universities, there are tiny colleges embedded in college towns that pride themselves on being an alternative to a traditional four-year tract. The colleges that rank among this list offer their students the chance to design their own curriculum, or major, and offer a very personal learning environment.

To pick out which colleges are the most accommodating to free-thinking co-eds, Newsweek considered equally each college’s grading system and curriculum design, the percentage of students who rated the campus political atmosphere as “progressive” on College Prowler, and those that offer the most intimate learning experience as measured by the total enrollment and student to faculty ratio (according to National Center for Educational Statistics). Colleges that don’t require an SAT score for admission were given a bonus point in the overall score.
