Burlington College will Close at 3 p.m. Today
The latest forecast from the National Weather Service station in Burlington is calling for powerful wind gusts starting mid- afternoon today. Winds are expected to gust over 40 mph, and could gust as high as 60mph.
Based on this forecast, Burlington College will close at 3 pm this afternoon. We recommend that people remain indoors as much as possible during this period. The combination of saturated ground conditions and strong winds will make trees particularly vulnerable to coming down.
As a result of the remnants from Hurricane Sandy the following steps are being taken:
- All classes, activities, and events will be cancelled beginning at 3:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012.
- The College will be officially closed.
- The campus will be locked, and there will be no access to the building after 3 pm today.
- Security will be on campus at 5 pm as scheduled and will monitor the building during the storm.
We expect that classes and events will resume as scheduled on Tuesday 10/30 as scheduled. However, we will continue to monitor the storm and update you of any changes to our response. Any updates to this status will be sent to you via email, posted on the Burlington College website, and our outgoing phone message will be updated, by 7 am tomorrow morning.
