Research and publications concentrate on the French nineteenth century and especially on representations of the other, orientalism, travel accounts to the Orient, the fantastic, text and image, literary representations of history. Courses recently taught include French language at all levels; French romanticism; adaptation of French literary texts to film; Great Ideas: Exile; Great Ideas: Cultural Encounters; Odysseys; French Cinema.
