Learn to build your own earthen oven from basic materials right below your feet. Earthen (cob) ovens combine clay and sand to form an aesthetically beautiful, functional bake oven suitable for pizza, bread, meats, roasted vegetables, granola, yogurt... you name it.  Join us to learn how an oven works, the necessary steps to build one, local sources of materials, and the design criteria to keep in mind when siting and building your own.  Earthen building suits people of all ages and skill levels; from experienced builders to people who have never built before. Come on and get your hands (and feet) dirty and help build a functional bread and pizza oven right in downtown Burlington!

Note: Students report to 37 Russell Street, Burlington VT, 05401.  Dinner provided on August 10 followed by an informational session.
