Born in Springfield, Massachusetts of a poor first-generation family.  Scottish and Franco American background.

Always committed to justice, human rights and freedom for all.BA from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass and MA in History and Education from the University of Wisconsin in Madison during the tumultuous and revolutionary years of the 1960’s. Anti-war, peace, women’s rights and civil rights activist then and now. Became a lawyer through the 4 year Clerk program and studied and worked as a Vista Volunteer at Vermont Legal Aid.  Passes the Bar and was admitted to the Vermont Bar and the Federal Bar in 1977. State Prosecutor from 1977-1980. Private practice from 1980-present representing mainly low income people.  Lawyer at Law Line from 1996-2005.  Vermont State Legislator from 1992-1996.

Back to teaching in 1986 and adjunct faculty BC, CCV, Johnson, UVM, Trinity, Vermont College.  Full time faculty here now teaching Law, History, Politics.  Director of the Paralegal, Legal and Justice, Pro Se Legal Clinic, Director of Institute for Civic Engagement and the Cuba Overseas Study Program.

Commentator on local radio stations and programs on public access television. Community Activist.

What achievements are you most proud of?
Founding member of the Vt. Women’s Health Center and becoming a lawyer through a 4 year clerkship program.
