This course introduces the basic skills needed to handle college-level writing. The goal is for students to learn how to construct a coherent short essay and to practice strategies and skills that will support the students work in other courses. Students develop ideas into distinct and supportable claims, learn how to support those claims, and experiment with various essay forms, draft and revise short essays, and strengthen their writing.
