The work of master designer craftsman , Mario Messina is usually an exploration of the union of function and art, and an expression of our relationship to the natural world in the context of our home environment. Messina's career in woodworking  began in 1983 in Roseburg, Oregon, where he apprenticed in a small cabinet shop for three years. In 1987, he opened his own woodworking shop in Vermont. Over the years his work has progressed into studio furniture making. In addition to running a full time furniture studio in Lyndon, Vermont and teaching for Burlington College, Messina is also a part-time woodworking instructor at Dartmouth College's Hopkins Center.
