New Student Orientation is an eclectic mix of work and fun. It is an opportunity to meet other students, find out about the workings of the College, and discover the Burlington community. While there will be information sessions to prepare you for your academic career at Burlington College, other workshops and activities will enable you to meet, and spend some time with, your fellow classmates and members of the faculty and staff.
New Student Orientation is a three day event and occurs on the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday of the week prior to the start of classes. The first day is Family Orientation which is designed to give family and friends an opportunity to meet staff & faculty, ask questions, and say good-bye. The highlight of the day is a boat cruise on Lake Champlain on board the Spirit of Ethan Allen III. The following two days are intended for students only and introduces students to important information related to the college and their degrees. It is an opportunity for students to learn about life at Burlington College and to ask any questions they may have. There are also fun activities throughout the week that are intended to help students meet and get to know each other.
The remainder of the week is left for students to settle in to housing, attend a check-in meeting with their advisor, and finalize campus business before the first day of classes. This is a great time to organize yourself, spend a little more time with new friends, get to know Burlington, and ask questions.
