Burlington College and Vermont Law School have entered into an articulation agreement that will allow Burlington College graduates a seamless transition into Vermont Law School's Juris Doctor or Joint Juris Doctor /Master of Environmental Law and Policy degree program.
"Vermont Law School is the only law school in Vermont and is ranked as having the top environmental law program in the country," said Jeff Shields, Dean of the Vermont Law School. "I have great regard for Burlington College and look forward to this close collaboration, which will allow us to increase the flow of Burlington College students into law programs."
"This collaborative venture will be of great importance to our academic program and to our students," agreed Dr. Jane O'Meara Sanders, President of Burlington College. "Both school's students and graduates are responsible citizens actively involved in their communities, often from an environmental perspective, so this promises to be an excellent partnership."
Upon successful completion of the bachelor's degree and the Law School Aptitude Test (LSAT), Burlington College graduates in good standing who meet the Vermont Law School admission standards, will be admitted to the Vermont Law School. Sanders stressed the student benefit. "Students will be able to prepare for their graduate school experience while completing their under-graduate education, focusing on the work at hand, rather than applying to a number of law schools and awaiting their decisions."
Both Shields and Sanders indicated this is only the first step in what they hope will be a fruitful collaborative venture.
